STORIES THAT MATTERS:

Supporting the Minds and Hearts of Those Who Care

Behind every neurodivergent child, there is often a parent — very often a mother — carrying an invisible weight.

Living alongside neurodiversity is not only a journey of understanding a child’s needs; it is also a constant state of emotional, cognitive, and physical demand. Many parents live in a state of permanent alert: thinking ahead, adapting, advocating, regulating emotions, managing school systems, therapies, and daily life — often without rest, recognition, or support. Over time, this sustained effort leads to exhaustion, self-doubt, and a deep sense of isolation.

At MySenFamily, we meet mothers and parents who are doing everything they can, yet feel depleted. They are overwhelmed not because they lack love or commitment, but because the mental and emotional load of caring for a neurodivergent child is immense. Much of the existing information focuses on understanding neurodiversity — but far less attention is given to what happens to those who support it every day.

Our goal as an association is not only to raise awareness around neurodiversity, but to acknowledge and support the internal state of parents themselves. We aim to recognise their fatigue, their stress, and their cognitive overload — and to meet them exactly where they are.

Through accessible, compassionate workshops, we offer parents something essential and often missing: understanding of their own experience. We help them make sense of why they feel exhausted, emotionally stretched, or mentally drained. More importantly, we share simple, realistic tools — small shifts, practical strategies, and gentle techniques that can be integrated into daily life without adding yet another burden.

Parents tell us that, for the first time, they feel seen — not only as caregivers, but as human beings. They begin to understand that supporting a neurodivergent child does not mean sacrificing their own wellbeing. They learn that regulation, balance, and compassion must extend to themselves as well.

What we offer is not more information to process, but relief. Not pressure to “do more,” but permission to slow down, simplify, and reconnect with their own inner resources.

By supporting parents — emotionally, mentally, and practically — we strengthen the entire family system. When caregivers feel understood and supported, they are better able to support their children with clarity, confidence, and care.

These are the stories that matter most to us. Stories of parents who move from survival to understanding. From exhaustion to empowerment. From carrying everything alone to knowing they are not.

Because caring for neurodiversity also means caring for those who live beside it every day.

These are the stories that matter most to us — not because they are extraordinary, but because they show what happens when knowledge becomes accessible, and when support reaches those who need it most.

“It was such a relief to finally understand how my son receives and processes information. I realised I needed to change my expectations and accept that he can learn in a different way than I do. Since then, my expectations have shifted, there is less tension between us, and our relationship has changed so much. Thank you.” L.P
